Why does my TV make a loud bang noise at knight?

I sleep in my room with my TV running all knight. But it's turned off during the day. And some times at knight it will go POW!! And usually scares the crap out of me. It's medium sized TV and is not a plasma screen TV. This really confuses me. And I'm hopping the TV aint messed up.
