Isn't part of being a conservative mean you should try to conserve the way things are?

Join a land trust like The Nature Conservancy who actually buys up land to preserve it. Conserving is different. It is the prudent use of natural resources but I don't think we even do that properly. Securing habitat and removing development rights is the only way to sustain the bounty of life we know.
