Slander in the work place?

hi there i have just finished a contruction job where i ws called in to do the plasterering on the job.I was there for 6 to 7 months. When i had finished the last week there.The check my boss had given me had been stopped .When i phoned him to ask why he said i had stolen stuff and he then went on to call me a thef a number of times . He then said that is why he stopped the check. so i then went to his house to talk to him face to face with a friend but all i got was a mouthfull of abuse on how i was a thef and that he was not giving me my money.He then claimed that he had went to the police and reported myself to them for stealing.when i had finished talking to him i then went to the police to find out what complaint had been made against me. the police told me that he was lying. The person i had with me that night can stand wittness to say that the person had accused me of stealing.I also have people from that building site who can say thta he is saying these lies
