Anyone have any tips to help me learn snowboarding ?

well on thursday night i learned how to snowboard...well tried to. i did horrible. 2 of my friends know how and my other friend can ski really well and i want to know how to snowboard better so i dont have to ruin there time. the place i go to has man made snow and its very icy so my board kept like spinning in circles. does anyone know how to stop it from doing that ? also im not very good with turning, i know how but its still tricky, does anyone have any tips on how to fix these problems ? also any other tips would be helpful to...im going back tomorrow and i really want to do better because i was very very sore yesterday :/
