French how do I know when to use que, qui, dont, or qu'?

its pretty hard to explain... but qu' is a contraction of que and qui, que is a pronoun for an object for example " the game that ibought" its the that, qui is a oun for a person. dont is used in a sentence like: "the hting that i heard of", its the that in this snetence.
